Flight Lesson Schedule

Flight lessons will be accomplished based on the scheduled checkride date.

All flights must be completed with the student teaching the maneuvers while flying in the right seat.

Students must obtain a minimum of 3 flight hours with a 2 year CFI prior to application for the Checkride.

The spin flight will not be completed at Axiom Aviation and must be complete with Wayne is Brigham City. Phone number to schedule is: (801) 698-6750.

  • Checkride Prep Flight (1.5 - 2.0 hours

CHECKRIDE PROGRESSION

Ground Portion

The ground portion of the checkride can be expected to last 4-5 hours.

All lesson plans must be completed and ready to go prior to Checkride.

All items highlighted red are Checkride mandatory.

Here is a breakdown of how that time is likely to go:

  1. Check-In Paperwork

    1. Logbook Audit​

    2. IACRA

    3. Endorsements, etc.

  2. Fundamentals of Instruction​

    1. Task E is mandatory and examiner will select at least 1 other task in this section.​

  3. Ground School Lesson Plan

    1. Runway Incursion is mandatory and examiner will select at least 1 other lesson to be taught.

  4. Endorsement Scenarios​

    1. Examiner will give at least 2 (sometimes 3) endorsement scenarios for you to accomplish.​

  5. Flight Maneuver Lesson Plan​

    1. Examiner will select at least 1 flight maneuver lesson to be taught by the student.​

Flight Portion

The flight portion of the checkride can be expected to last 1.0-1.5 hour of flight time.

The student must fly from the right seat and teach all maneuvers while performing them to the Commercial Pilot ACS Standards.

All items highlighted red are Checkride mandatory.

Here is a breakdown of what is mandatory on the flight:

  1. Pre-Flight Inspection

    1. Completed with Checkride Examiner​

  2. Takeoffs, Landings, and Go-Arounds​

    1. Examiner must select at least 2 of the following:​

      1. Normal/Crosswind Takeoff​

      2. Short Field Takeoff

      3. Soft Field Takeoff

      4. Normal/Crosswind Landing

      5. Slip to a Landing

      6. Go-Around/Rejected Landing

      7. Short Field Landing

      8. Soft Field Landing

      9. Power Off 180 Accuracy Landing

  3. Performance Maneuvers​​

    1. Examiner must select tasks 1 or 2 and 3 or 4 from the list below:​

      1. Steep Turns​

      2. Steep Spirals

      3. Chandelles

      4. Lazy Eights

  4. Ground Reference Maneuvers​​

    1. Students must perform at least task 4 and one other task from the list below:​

      1. Rectangular Course​

      2. S-Turns

      3. Turns Around a Point

      4. Eights on Pylons

  5. Slow Flight/Stalls/Spins​​

    1. Examiner must select either task 2 or 3 and either 4, 5, 6, or 8 and task 7 from the list below:​

      1. Slow Flight​

      2. Power-On Stall

      3. Power-Off Stall

      4. Cross Controlled Stall

      5. Elevator Trim Stall

      6. Secondary Stall

      7. Spins

      8. Accelerated Stall

  6. Basic Instrument Maneuvers​​

    1. Examiner must select at least 1 of the following tasks:​

      1. Straight and Level Flight​

      2. Constant Airspeed Climbs

      3. Constant Airspeed Descents

      4. Turns to Headings

      5. Recovery from Unusual Attitudes

  7. Emergency Procedures​​

    1. Examiner must select at least task 1 and 2 from the list below:​

      1. Emergency Approach and Landing​

      2. Systems and Equipment Malfunctions

      3. Emergency Equipment

      4. Emergency Descent

  8. Post Flight Procedures​​

    1. Student must complete the proper post flight procedures.​
