Benefits of Personalized Flight Training

Every flight school is unique and follows a training syllabus. Some schools share a training syllabus with other flight schools. However, these schools will still have some differences, whether that be an amended syllabus or a different training location. Decades of studies done on flight training have concluded that while some teaching methods have proven to be more effective than others. No one training method is undeniably better than all of the others as each has its merits and may be appropriate for a variety of situations. At Axiom Aviation, we have found that one-on-one personalized training works best for most students.

Part 61 Versus Part 141

Regulations from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are one of the largest factors that influence how a school instructs its students. Under the Code of Federal Regulations 14, the FAA classifies primary flight training under one of two parts, Part 61 and Part 141.

Part 61 schools are less regulated and are permitted to use whatever teaching style they choose so long as they give students the required training and the students pass the federally administered exams.

Part 141 schools follow a training syllabus that has been pre-approved by the FAA. These schools tend to be less flexible and offer a more rigid training program. These programs typically take longer than Part 61 programs but come with their respective perks.

While neither Part 61 nor Part 141 programs offer poor flight training, the “best” type of training for a student to pursue will vary based on their needs and learning style.

At Axiom, we have found that following Part 61 regulations allows us to offer a highly customized training experience. Enabling us to tailor the program to a student's unique needs.

Axiom Aviation's Flight Training Method

Throughout the 10 years Axiom has been training professional pilots, one-on-one training has proven to be the best method. Some schools will do ground instruction in a classroom setting. This is most commonly found at Part 141 schools but can be found at select Part 61 schools. While lectures work well for some learners, at Axiom, all ground instruction is done with one flight instructor (CFI) and one student. Every lesson and topic is covered during the student's studies and is retaught in person with a flight instructor. These same topics will later be reviewed during practice tests with other instructors to ensure a student has managed to retain the information. This tried and true method has continuously helped students excel in testing and their careers.

Flight training is inherently one-on-one. Schools will give flight training in a one-on-one scenario regardless of their ground training methods. At Axiom Aviation, we strive to incorporate integrated flight training. This enables us to teach a student a topic on the ground and in flight on the same day. Students attending a school that teaches ground in a classroom setting will regularly have to wait weeks or months before they can practice what they have learned in the classroom in flight.

Through personalized flight training, CFIs at Axiom have helped hundreds of individuals become professional pilots while studying on a flexible schedule that caters to the student's needs.
